Oh Amy Adams, you're just too adorable. I almost can't take it. So when your hairstylist offers any sort of tip that might help me resemble you more closely in some way, I listen.
Amy's hair pro, Matrix stylist Mark Townsend, was so kind as to give us some inside scoop on how he created two of the starlet's most recent red-carpet looks, for the New York and L.A. screenings of "Julie & Julia".
Look One: Wavy
To complement Amy's ridic-gorge Carolina Herrera gown at the New York premiere, Townsend went for all-out glamour: voluminous, soft, cascading waves. He spritzed Biolage Volumatherapie Bodifying Spray Gel on her damp hair, then used a Spornette mixed bristle round brush to blow it out with tons of volume. Then he set her hair on rollers, wrapping each section around from the roots to the ends. When her hair was cool, he took out the rollers and gently brushed it out with a flat brush, parting it to the side and then gently scrunching with shine spray and misting with hairspray.
Look Two: Sleek
To go with Amy's chic white RM by Rouland Mouret dress, Townsend went with a hairstyle inspired by 1980s model Carol Alt. He dried Amy's hair using a Mason Pearson brush and Matrix Vavoom Gold Heat Blow-In Volume Protective Lotion, lifting her roots to give them some height and keeping her ends straight. To give her dry hair some piecey-ness, he finished by raking some texture cream through with his fingers.
