The Red Carpet Fashion Images Reviews

From feather boas and satin gowns of the twenties, to haute couture and the millions of dollars of jewels on loan today, this is the fashion industry's Super Bowl. And it's hard to remember a time when we watched the Oscars without the preliminary fashion show/product placement/walk of fame and shame that is known as the "Red Carpet."
Competing for jobs is tough enough. Competing in an economic environment where there are fewer and fewer jobs and more and more job applicants is even tougher. For students coming out of college, that challenge is even harder because of their lack of real-world experience.

No field is more competitive than broadcast journalism, especially for those who want to cover the entertainment space. Not only are you competing with the abundant of off and online news outlets, but you're also competing with freelancers and the paparazzi.

the best kind of mail is vogue mail

Okay, so this post is essentially going to be short but sweet, mainly for the fact that i've got a hot date with 2 litres of hot chocolate (possibly...), my Shakespeare essay, and a whole half-page of corrections for me to er.. correct! So I'm sorry, i've really failed on my couture fascination-posts as of late.

However, today when i was having my annual spring clean, i found something that may be of interest to you. It has been my biggest dream to become a fashion journalist since i was about 11, and the dream still hasn't vanished now that i'm an adolescent of 15 years. (I blame 13 going on 30 and an addiction to Vogue!)

So this time last year i sent a letter to Vogue asking for any advice regarding becoming a fashion journalist. Looking back, it was a lengthy letter (3 pages to be precise), and probably not the best written (i spelt interesting wrong at least 7 times), the advice back was in less words than i had envisaged as a 14-year-old, but it's from VOGUE. And that in itself makes it pretty special.

And i found it today, and was just as pleased to tear back the Conde Nast envelope and pour over the few words...

"Dear Miss Taylor,

Thankyou for your recent letter with regards to advice on a career in fashion.

Most of our staff have varied academic backgrounds and therefore it is difficult to advise you on the best career path to take. Some of our staff have done specific fashion courses; others have not, but have more general degrees, and many have worked their way up from a secretarial position. Being realistic, all our staff have degrees, whatever job they come to do: in journalism, in fashion, in art- or in more broadly based general degrees for support staff, etc.

I hope this information helps you- good luck!

Yours sincerely,

ROSE CHADWYCK-HEALEY

Personnel Manager

Adriana Lima Fashion Style

n true fairy tale fashion, Brazilian Adriana was discovered at the age of 13 when she was shopping at a local shopping mall. By 15, she had won the ‘Ford Supermodel of Brazil’ contest and was placed second in the ‘Ford Supermodel of the World’ competition. She moved to the world’s most energetic and fashion-driven city, New York, and was signed to Elite Model Management.

Lima’s modeling portfolio began to expand exponentially, appearing in numerous international editions of Vogue and Marie Claire. As for fashion shows, she has walked the catwalks for big-name designers such as Vera Wang, Christian Lacroix, Emanuel Ungaro, Giorgio Armani, Fendi, Ralph Lauren, Valentino, among others. Lima then became a Guess? girl appearing on Guess?’ Fall 2000 ad campaign. She also appeared in the book ‘A second decade of Guess? Images’Lima continued to build upon her entry, doing more print work for Maybelline, bebe, Mossimo, BCBG and gracing the cover and editorials of more high fashion magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar, ELLE, Vogue, GQ, to name a few. Her April 2006 GQ cover was the highest-selling issue of the year. Her other notable works include the well-famed Pirelli Calendar 2005 and the face of Italy’s big cell phone carrier Telecom Italia Mobile where she became known as the “Catherine Zeta-Jones of Italy.”
